Taking a Holden Captiva up some tough tracks in the South West of Tasmania. Pretty much unstoppable 4×4 in most terrain only ground clearance is an issue. Plenty of grunt where it counts and it gets along ok for a 2 litre turbo diesel considering its quite heavy designed to carry 7 peeps. The Captiva dose have serious issues in regards to dust sealing and the whole rear of the vehicle is peppered with large gaps behind the rear bumper allowing dust to enter the cabin in large amounts. This was fixed by spending on a few cans of expander foam sprayed into the cavities which fixed the problem. Would of been interesting to see how Holden fixed the issue without replacing the vehicle. This vehicle has been fitted with 4mm thick bash plates under the engine and rear mounted plastic fuel tanks which gets a pounding on some tracks. Headlights have been retro fitted with 35 watt HID hi and low beam. The two Hella spotties have 50 watt HID conversions and the two lower spots are 35 watt HID’s. Output from all 8 lights is impressive to say the least and all up cost under 00 including the Hella Chromes and was fitted by muah. Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion 235/70/18 which make the Captiva a more capable off road machine.
